Event Speaker Bio's
Ann-Maree Long
Ann-Maree is a proud Badjala, Woppaburra and Torres Strait Islander woman, storyteller and community leader, with a deep commitment to social justice, education and inclusion. Ann-Maree is Senior Education Advisor – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education at Brisbane Catholic Education, Advisory at EPIC Pathways and co-founder of Sandpoppy Weaving, a creative practice grounded in healing and connection.
Throughout her career, Ann-Maree has led impactful national programs supporting First Nations youth, including the CareerTrackers High School Program and the Young Indigenous Women’s STEM Academy in partnership with CSIRO.
Her work is centred on amplifying the voices of young people, using storytelling to build understanding, strengthen identity, and inspire meaningful change across communities.
Ty Taniora
Ty Taniora is a proud Butchulla and Maori man whose cultural heritage guides his leadership and shapes his deep connection to community. Drawing from more than a decade of professional experience, Ty has developed expertise in cross-functional leadership and program management, using these skills to drive meaningful change.
As Manager of Organisational Development and First Nations Inclusion at nbn® Australia, Ty has been instrumental in advancing reconciliation and inclusion across the organisation. He actively champions equitable workplace practices and authentic cultural representation, ensuring that First Nations voices are heard and respected at every level. Ty’s commitment aligns with nbn® Australia’s mission to bridge digital divides and empower communities nationwide through innovative workforce engagement strategies.
Ty is a driving force behind key initiatives such as the First Nations Employment Strategy and Mob Connect events, which have fostered growth in representation and strengthened partnerships.
Through his ongoing work, Ty inspires others to listen, learn, and work together, advancing the journey towards reconciliation and inclusion. His leadership continues to encourage genuine collaboration and a vision for a more inclusive, equitable future for all.
Luke Butler
Luke Butler is a member of our DPA Management Committee and Senior Advisor for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Compass Group Australia, where he leads with passion and purpose. Luke is dedicated to fostering inclusion through genuine connection and practical action, using creativity and collaboration to shape strategy, storytelling, and education that resonate across the organisation.
On the panel, Luke will share insights from national programs, learning experiences, and community-driven projects that have strengthened Compass Group Australia’s All In focus towards reconciliation through meaningful engagement, investment, and long-term partnerships fostered with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led businesses.
As a founding member of Supply Nation since 2009, this includes working with a growing number of certified Indigenous suppliers across food, beverage, equipment, and services, with over $24 million spent in 2025 alone, all designed to promote economic development and workforce participation in First Nations communities.
