Employee Network Masterclass

  • Cardno, Level 11, Green Square 515 Saint Pauls Terrace Fortitude Valley, QLD, 4006 Australia (map)

Employee networks (otherwise known as employee resource groups or employee committees) have emerged as an increasingly critical component of diversity and inclusion strategies across Australia as organisations seek to value, promote and connect individuals from underrepresented demographic groups at work. However, the very notion of employee networks has made headlines in the last 12 months, with some organisations opting to disband their networks in favour of an approach for inclusivity for all employees.

In this Diversity Practitioners Association (DPA) masterclass, we'll explore several different employee networks: the business case for establishing them, their purpose, how they were established, how they are sustained, what challenges have been encountered in growing the networks, the desired outcomes and how to measure success. We'll also discuss the counter-argument for employee networks and explore where a broad approach to inclusion for everyone intersects with valuing identity.

We'll draw on the perspectives of a panel of representatives from:

  • Cardno's Women in Cardno Program
  • PwC's GLEE (Gay, Lesbian and Everyone Else) network. PwC has twice been named Australia's top LGBTI employer by Pride in Diversity.
  • Department of Transport and Main Roads' Indigenous Employee Network
  • Energy Queensland's Mental Health network

The discussion will be followed by a workshop segment giving you the opportunity to consider employee networks in your own sphere of influence.

This masterclass is suited for diversity and inclusion practitioners, leaders and influencers, including people running employee networks.

There'll be some drinks and nibbles to enjoy at the conclusion of the masterclass. DPA is proud to be hosted for this masterclass event by our Gold Sponsor, Cardno.
